Edmonton StreetFest 2018

Steps to StreetFest

THE ARTISTS

StreetFest is a curated Festival. This means all of the artists you see have been invited by our Artistic Producer Shelley Switzer, who works year-round to bring you the best of the best. We all have a role to play: we invite them, they perform and you pay them! Please be generous. This is truly how the artists earn their pay, and you the audience are their boss. Change is available at the Information Station.

FESTIVAL SITE

We’re doin’ it again… in the GAZEBO! Due to construction and other projects on Sir Winston Churchill Square, StreetFest is being welcomed back to Dr. Wilbert McIntyre Park (also known as Gazebo Park) for the 2019 Festival. Thank you to the Old Strathcona Businesses Association and residents for welcoming us back into your neighbourhood.

EVERYONE IS INVITED!

StreetFest is a public festival and is wheelchair accessible. No admission ticket is required, all outdoor performances are in the pass-the-hat tradition.

ON-SITE INFO

Have a question? We’re here to help! Visit the Information Station for programming and site information, raffle tickets and Late Night Madness tickets.

DAILY PERFORMANCE SCHEDULES

Performances kick off each day at 11:30 am and end with a Troupe du Jour variety show at 10pm daily. Performances will be adapted to suit the weather and crowds, but we will do our best to predict a schedule throughout the day. Check out the Now, Next, Soon section for the most up-to-date schedule information.

FOCUSED CIRCLE SHOWS

The pitch – that’s where the magic happens… like, actually. The pitch is the place where our focused circle show performers share their act with the audience.

KIDS’ WORLD

Kids’ World offers performances, activities and interactive playtime catered specifically to our young and young at heart patrons. Kids’ World is open from 11:30 am – 6 pm daily (Sunday, July 15 until 3 pm).

BE YOUR OWN BUSKER

Learn the tricks of the trade like juggling and hula hooping, play fun games, or try your DJ’ing skills!

ROVERS

Keep your eyes and ears peeling for some amazing, hilarious and talented roving performers. They could be from storytellers, adventure seekers and fairy hunters – anything is possible.

WEATHER OR NOT

StreetFest is a 99.9% outdoor Festival. We adjust performance schedules according to the weather conditions and our crowds. Your enjoyment and safety are first in our thoughts and plans. Make sure your APP notifications are turned on to receive last minute schedule adjustments due to inclement weather or follow us on Twitter at YegStreetFest.

$35 FOR 35

StreetFest could not run without the generous financial support of incredible people like you. Whether it’s $5, $35 or $350, every donation will be gratefully accepted. A Tax receipt will be provided for any donation amount greater than $25. Donations to the Festival are accepted at the Information Station or online.

COMMON SENSE RULES

Sunscreen, hats, sunglasses and comfortable footwear will help ensure everyone has a great time. Please supervise your children at all times. Bottled water is available for purchase. Vendors sell a wide range of festival-style snacks and beverages. Please turn off your phone during performances. Recording performances is not permitted.

If you’re coming with a group, ensure all children or others requiring supervision are easily recognizable – matching hats, shirts or wristbands work wonderfully. Daycares, Camp Groups, and parents, take this opportunity to teach children how it works at our Festival – load ‘em up with loonies and twoonies! If you need assistance, just ask. We’re here to help!
