Mike Wood

Mike Wood was born (against his will) in St. Thomas, Ontario. He paid his way through university catching a catapulted cabbage on a spike on his head.

Mike has just returned to Canada after living for almost a decade in London, England. While living in London, Mike was a regular at plenty of tiny East London comedy rooms nobody can be expected to have heard of. He was a semifinalist in the Amused Moose UK New Comedian Of The Year, which is a big deal and you should feel bad about not having heard of it.

In the future, Mike will be trading shards of broken mirror for the physical affections of his fellow climate refugees. In the meantime, Mike plans to cram your face so full of laughter you almost forget about all the important stuff you should be doing.

Ron Pearson’s Mystery Wonder Show

Ron Pearson’s Mystery Wonder Show combines illusion, music and mime to create one of the most unique magic shows on the festival circuit. Ron has been chosen to represent Canada as a performer at both the Commonwealth Games in Manchester, England and the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC and has performed his show everywhere from the Royal National Theatre in London, England to Carnegie Hall in New York City.

“Ron Pearson channels the spirit of Charlie Chaplin’s Little Tramp. A beautiful piece of silent theatre.”

Linda Karenko a.k.a. Madame de la Loon

For over thirty years, Linda has traveled the world with her jockularity and savoir faire – from cowgirl antics in Bora Bora to Mother Nature at Fort Edmonton Park. Her comedy characters have been enchanting people across the globe.

Madame de la Loon is one of those characters. She is a turbin clad, colorful fortune teller, sporting an East European accent. She is festooned with numerous beads, bracelets and rings and intrigues her clients with reading greeting cards – yes – that’s right – greeting cards. When the client sees the picture, it is very logical to see how Madame interprets the reading. Her readings always leave the clients with positive, uplifting comments and hope. Are her readings real?? or fake?? You decide…..

The Copper Cowboy

The internet describes a Living Statue as a street performer who poses in statue-like positions, applies realistic statue makeup, wears statue coloured costumes, and stands in the street for hours…like a statue. The Copper Cowboy Living Statue is a different story: he does everything described (it’s a winning formula) except now imagine ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’ by John Denver playing in the background as the description is reread.

Copper Cowboy has been a staple of the Alberta landscape for over a decade performing at the Edmonton Fringe, Calgary Stampede, and Red Deer Westerner Days. Just a lot of fun.

Dan the Balloon Man

Pop by for a balloon.

“With End Of The World Ben Sures manages to articulate with brave gallows humour, what are very legitimate concerns for us all. It reminds me of the best Loudon Wainright songs. Funny, sad and truthful”

-Ron Sexsmith

“Ben Sures is a con man. He sings beautiful melodies about humble folk.

“But before the cups come to a full stop and the ping pong ball is revealed he has also somehow illuminated what it means to be vulnerable and human. These are ten songs about people you know, have known or will know.”

The Violin Kid

Nik “The Violin Kid” is actually a guitarist – and a pretty good one at that.  Nik grew up as a third generation violinist and was classically trained on his “family’s instrument” of choice.  But after many years of learning, Nik fell in love with the seductive licks and riffs of Rock ‘n Roll.  Nik keeps his name as “The Violin Kid” as an homage to the musical background and training that was such a large part of his early career.  Whether he’s tapping, strumming, or shredding, the violin will always be a part of Nik’s music.
