I am pleased to extend my warmest greetings to everyone taking part in the Edmonton International Street Performers Festival.

Since 1984, this event has offered artists and artisans from diverse backgrounds an opportunity to showcase and share their talents. I am sure that everyone in attendance will enjoy the performances and activities planned for this 40th edition of the festival.

I would like to thank the organizers for bringing this event to the community year after year. I would also like to thank the volunteers and artists for their role in making this an unforgettable experience for everyone.

The arts have the power to connect us and help us better understand the world around us. Our government is committed to helping Canadians experience the arts within their communities by supporting events like the 2024 Edmonton International Street Performers Festival, which showcases our diversity through original live performances that brighten our days and showcase Canadian talent.

For the past four decades, this festival—the first and largest event of its kind in North America—has invited audiences of all ages and backgrounds to join emerging and established artists as they share their passion and creativity with the world.

As Minister of Canadian Heritage, I would like to congratulate all the organizers, volunteers and performers who have worked hard to bring this year’s festival to life. Thank you for your contribution to the region’s cultural landscape. Best wishes on your 40th anniversary.

Les arts nous relient les uns aux autres et nous permettent de mieux comprendre le monde qui nous entoure. Notre gouvernement tient à aider les Canadiens et Canadiennes à s’imprégner des arts au sein de leur communauté en soutenant des rencontres comme l’Edmonton International Street Performers Festival de 2024. For four decades, Edmontonians and visitors alike have flocked to the heart of the city to witness thrilling circus, comedy and variety performances. The affordability and accessibility of its programming has made Streetfest a local favourite and a dazzling highlight of Alberta’s exciting summer festival season.

With a variety of genres, exciting performers and Alberta’s famous hospitality, folks are sure to find something they love, and to experience something they never have before!

I’m grateful for the efforts of StreetFest’s dedicated staff for fostering the development of local, regional and international talent. And I’d like to extend a special thank you to the sponsors and volunteers who have made this festival such a success for 40 incredible years.
