Your Guide to StreetFest

One of Edmonton’s first flagship Festivals of summer, The Edmonton International Street Performers Festival brings 10 days of variety performances to Sir Winston Churchill Square. From Circus acts and comedy to music and downright death-defying feats, StreetFest dazzles thousands of city-goers each summer. Here is your guide to navigate all the fun like a pro:

FESTIVAL SITE

Our main Festival site is Sir Winston Churchill Square located between 99 Street and 100 Street and between 102 Avenue and 102A Avenue. It’s the heart of downtown in Edmonton’s Arts District, right in front of City Hall.

Please note that there are NO WHEELED ACTIVITIES ON SITE with the exception of wheelchairs, mobility scooters, strollers/wagons, and bicycles to be walked/parked in designated areas. Thank you!

ACCESS

We are open to the public and the Square is wheelchair accessible. There is no admission cost and all street performances are in the pass-the-hat tradition. There is an accessible drop-off/pick-up point (no parking) at the intersection of 102A Avenue and 99 Street, in front of the Art Gallery of Alberta entrance.

GENERAL HOURS

We are opening an hour earlier each day to ensure our youngest festival-goers can access even more StreetFest fun! Kids’ World and Busker Academy programming now begins at 10:00am each day and runs until 5:00pm. Circle Shows and other Festival programming begins at 11:00am and runs until 10:00pm.

Friday, July 4: [5:00pm – 10:00pm]

Saturday, July 5 to Saturday, July 12: [10:00am – 10:00pm]

Sunday, July 13: [10:00am – 6:00pm]

GETTING HERE AND HOME AGAIN

ETS:

Parking in the downtown core can be a challenge. Consider travelling with ETS – our official festival transit provider – instead! The LRT and ETS Buses stop on or near Churchill Square.

For detailed information on ETS routes to get to StreetFest, check out our transit to StreetFest page.

For general transit info, call: 311 or 780-442-5311 (outside of Edmonton).

For general online info, visit: www.edmonton.ca/edmonton-transit-system-ets

ACCESSIBLE DROP OFF ZONE:

There is an accessible drop off zone for taxis and ridesharing to spare you the puzzle of parking downtown! This zone is the intersection of 99 St and 102A Ave, which can be accessed by turning off of 97 St onto 102A Ave heading west.

Please note that this zone is only for being dropped off / picked up from the Festival, and not for parking.

Co-op Taxi has a dedicated stand on site by this zone. To book Co-op, call 780-425-2525.

PAID PARKING:

Paid parking is available at a variety of locations downtown. Please note that construction on 99 St between 102 Ave and Jasper Ave has impacted surrounding parking areas.

Here are a few options for places to park by Churchill Square:

NOTE:  The parkade entrance at 99 Street, at the Citadel Theatre, will be closed, and portions of the first level will be unavailable for parking. The parkade’s entrance and exit at 100 Street will remain open.

ON-SITE INFO

Check out our Information Tent located on the South side of the Square for moment-by-moment performance schedules and programming information. The performance schedule changes fluidly and the most up-to-date information will be at the Information Tent.

WEATHER OR NOT

We are a 99.9% outdoor Festival. Please be sure to double check the weather forecast before you join us on the Square and prepare accordingly. Sunscreen, sunglasses, hats, and comfortable shoes will help make your festival experience awesome. You are also welcome to bring a small folding stool or chair to sit in for performances. We adjust performance schedules according to the weather conditions and our crowds. Your enjoyment and safety are our priority. When you arrive at Sir Winston Churchill Square, please go to our Information Tent for the latest updates.

PROGRAMMING

There is a LOT to take in and experience during this year’s Festival. Catch a street performance show throughout the day from 11:00am to 10:00pm. Don’t miss our Festival Kick-Off Show at 5:00pm on July 4. Try your hand at circus arts at Busker Academy, or check out Kids’ World to see shows and do activities made for the youngest of Festival-goers, between 10:00am and 5:00pm. If you’re feeling like even more circus, drop in on a Get Your Circus On Workshop on July 7 or July 9 from 5:00pm to 6:30pm — and then show off your moves by dancing and walking with Festival artists in our ParticiParade on July 8 and July 10 at 5:00pm! For our over 18 festival-goers, buy a ticket to our not-seen-on-the-street, indoor Late Night Madness Cabaret on July 11 and 12, starting at 10:15pm in the Rice at the Citadel Theatre. And, of course, if you’re feeling like taking a break from all the fun, grab a bite to eat from our on-site food vendors and shop at the arts & crafts vendors.

PETS

Festivals can be loud, hot, and crowded. This can get very stressful for our non-human friends. Please leave your animals at home when you visit Churchill Square.

SMOKING

There is no smoking or vaping allowed anywhere on the Festival site. Please step off Churchill Square to smoke or vape.

GROUPS

If you’re coming with a group, ensure all children or others requiring supervision are easily recognizable – matching hats, shirts, or wristbands work wonderfully. Daycares, Camp Groups, and parents, take this opportunity to teach children how it works at our Festival: ensure everyone has a few dollars in their pockets to pay the performers for their excellent work.

MAKE A DONATION

Help keep the awesome programming of StreetFest accessible to everyone. If you are able, please donate at the Information Tent, online here, or through the donation bins on site. All donations go directly towards supporting the free-of-charge programming on site.

If you need assistance or have a question, just ask. We’re here to help!
