The Edmonton International Street Performers Festival brings the world’s best street acts to downtown Edmonton each July. An important part of the Festival is BE YOUR OWN BUSKER, a free artist-led workshop for audiences of all ages and abilities. Through the joyous creativity of circus arts, this program offers at-risk youth the opportunity to partake in engaging and rewarding circus and street arts related activities in an accessible and barrier-free setting.

StreetFest April 2013 Update

An Update from our Annual General Meeting

Yesterday, we hosted the Annual General Meeting of the Edmonton International Street Perfomers Festival Association.(It's all fun and games - but someone has to move the financial statements!)

Board President Sue Broderick and Artistic Producer Shelley Switzer presented reports about the success of the 2012 Festival including a fantastic cast and record attendance of over 265,000 StreetFest fans. They each thanked the Board, Staff, Artists and Volunteers for their hard work on the Festival.

Shelley also introduced John Bass from Intrinsic Tourism Solutions who presented a Tourism Growth Action Plan for the Festival. John has been working on a report for StreetFest over the past several months through a program supported by the Ministry of Alberta Tourism, Parks and Recreation. StreetFest is thankful to John and the Ministry for making this evaluation project a reality. We look forward to implementing suggested developments over the coming years.

The 2013-14 Board of Directors was elected as follows:

Sue Broderick, Maxine Klak, Tim Marriott, Jane Parks, Ron Pearson, Alexis Barr, Blaire McCalla, Aytahn Ross, Jill Wright

Sincere thanks and gifts of appreciation were given to David Abbey, Gail Barrington Moss, Michael Kennard, Dianna MacDonald, Gary Maitland and Bruce Specht, who all recently completed their Board positions.

Special thanks to everyone who attended the meeting and especially to Sutton Place Hotel for their ongoing support and hosting of the event!

NEVER QUIT!

It is with a heavy heart that we let you know that Don Snider, our great friend and long time Site and Vendor Manager at StreetFest passed away on November 12th, 2012. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Linda and his family and all of his friends at this time. Don Snider has left an indelible mark and an incredible legacy at our Festival and throughout our community. He will be sorely missed.
