Thanks for joining us at StreetFest 2014...
The Edmonton International Street Performers Festival celebrated its 30th birthday by putting smiles on the faces of more than 250,000 visitors throughout a sunny 10 days on Churchill Square. Wrapping up yesterday, the Festival’s international cast of street artists produced laughs, chuckles, guffaws and applause, as well as generously filled hats, with upwards of 1,500 breathtaking, heartwarming and hilarious performances.
Phileas Flash (aka Rupert Appleyard), with help from an army of fledgling balloon twisters, crafted a massive balloon art installation in the Be Your Own Busker Tent to commemorate StreetFest’s special milestone.Thousands also took part in other workshops, dabbling in the arts of juggling, break dancing and stilt-walking. Kids’ World was a hit with youngsters, while nightly Troupe du Jour performances entertained Streetfest’s evening masses. Comedy Cares brought genuine delight to hundreds of patients and families at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital and Stollery Children’s Hospital, and two very naughty Late Night Madness shows packed the Stanley A. Milner Library Theatre once again.
The Edmonton International Street Performers Festival gratefully acknowledges its many sponsors, staff and volunteers whose hard work over days, weeks, months and decades has made this event possible.
StreetFest kicks off its next 30 years July 3 to 12, 2015, bringing another international cast of professional rovers, acrobats, dancers, comedy characters, musicians, magicians and jugglers to Churchill Square.
